Migraine, Headache, Natural Relief, Drug FreeMigraine Headaches and Brain Changes

According to findings by a team of scientists in the Netherlands, which they reported in the Journal of the American headache Society, people who have a history of frequent or long-standing migraines headaches are at an increased risk of suffering from progressive brain damage.

They conducted their research by researching the brains of 28 migraine patients using high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Patients who suffered three or more migraines a month showed greater abnormalities than those who suffered less than three a month. Their research showed the same results for those patients who had suffered from Migraines for longer than 15 years compared to those who had began suffering from them within that time frame.

Drug-Free Migraine Relief Is Possible

While that research gives insight into the dangers that migraines have on the brain, further research gives even more hope. Using the upright MRI, upper cervical chiropractors have shown that misalignments in the upper neck vertebrae cause a change in the flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), which is important to the functioning of the brain, as it lubricates the brain and the spinal cord, to, from, and through the brain.

That obstruction is due to a misalignment of the upper cervical spine that causes a backup in the Cerebrospinal Fluid and cerebral blood that causes intracranial pressure. Upper Cervical Chiropractic is a safe and gentle chiropractic method that has been proven to decrease this pressure significantly thus allowing for the normalization of the flow of CSF over time.

Of course, there is another side to that research. There is no drug in the world that can get to the source of a person’s migraines if it’s caused by an upper neck misalignment. That’s why it’s important to seek the care of an upper cervical chiropractor, so they can examine your upper cervical spine for any misalignments that may be the underlying cause of your migraines.
